First Days Rice Pudding

A creamy rice pudding made by simmering rice in whole milk with sugar and vanilla, then garnished with cinnamon.

Instructions

  1. Rinse the rice under cold water until the water runs clear.
  2. In a large saucepan, combine the rinsed rice, whole milk, sugar, and salt.
  3. Bring the mixture to a gentle boil over medium heat, stirring frequently to prevent the rice from sticking.
  4. Reduce the heat to low and simmer uncovered, stirring occasionally, for about 30-40 minutes or until the rice is tender and the pudding has thickened.
  5. Remove the saucepan from heat and stir in the vanilla extract.
  6. Let the pudding cool slightly before serving. Garnish with ground cinnamon.

Prep

  • Rinse the rice under cold water at least 1 hour before cooking.
